Radix LMS updates - October 2024
We're thrilled to share the latest enhancements and bug fixes to our RADIX Learning Management System. Each update is designed to streamline your experience, whether you're teaching, learning, or managing behind the scenes. Discover more about each update by checking them out on your site!
New Features 🆕
Behavior Alert System
We've launched a new Behavior Alert System that keeps selected users informed about students' behavioral patterns, especially for specialized programs like ESE, Special Education, 504 Plans, Gifted, and ELL. You can customize alerts based on behavior types, consequences, and thresholds for each program. Alerts are sent via email and Radix notifications at your chosen frequency, allowing for a single update or a comprehensive overview.
Attendance alert for parents/students
Our new Parent/Student Attendance Notification feature enhances communication between schools and families by providing timely updates on attendance. Parents and students will receive notifications when marked absent or tardy, helping them stay informed about attendance issues.
Key features include:
Daily Notifications: Parents and students receive daily alerts on attendance statuses.
Customizable Alerts: Administrators can set alert criteria based on grade levels, attendance status, and periods. Notifications can also be sent to students, with a default setting of 'No'.
Detailed Notifications: Alerts include the student's name, date, period, attendance status, and a link to the full report for further details.
Enhanced Reporting: New columns in logs show the periods involved if notifications were sent to students, and the total number of students/courses affected.
User-Friendly Interface: The new alert creation form mirrors existing forms for ease of use.
New Functionalities
SIS Sync - Course names override
Admins can now determine whether or not SIS data preserves or overwrites local course short name changes. They can keep the customized course short names during SIS synchronization. To turn on (keep the local changes), go to “The SIS data sync plugin and check the configuration labeled “Allow override of course short names”.
Discipline reports filters
The filters on the Conduct log, Dispositions, Referrals, and Behaviour Overview reports are now persistent. Once the report is filtered, the user will always see the same filter until it is reset. By default, the filter options are collapsed, but if there is a saved filter, the options will be expanded automatically.
Office referrals from minor infractions
Administrators can now easily access a complete list of conduct logs associated with student referrals from minor infractions. We have added an action icon in the referral list to do that. This improvement streamlines the process of reviewing student behavior during the relevant run period, making it more efficient.
Registered parents on student contacts screen
We have added an indicator on the parent/contacts screen to show admins if the parent/guardian has registered an account on the site. If the parent has an account and is connected to her students, there will be a checkmark shown next to her email address. If there is a mark, that means the parent has an account but the student hasn’t been connected to the account. It will display the message “No registered account; click to invite
" if the parent hasn’t created an account yet. Clicking on this message will take the user to the invitation screen where you can find the parent and send an invitation to open an account.
Additional fields on the behavior overview report
We have added two significant fields to the Behavior Overview Report: "Homeroom Teacher" and "Site Group." These fields will now appear immediately after the "Grade" column, ensuring they are easily accessible. The "Homeroom Teacher" field will showcase the full name of the teacher, combining their first and last names from our database. Meanwhile, the "Site Group" field will display a list of site group names associated with each student. Both fields are also available in the filter section as multi-select combo boxes, similar to the existing "Grade" filter, allowing for more tailored reporting.
The Periods Report
The courses that do not have any periods/groups will not be shown on the Periods report. We have also added the count of students in each period which, when clicked, will take the users to the student schedule report filtered by the course/period.
Preserving parent and student accounts for the new year
We introduced a new method for importing student accounts using district IDs to preserve parent-student connections on Radix. All student accounts will be temporarily suspended before the import, with only those listed in the import file being activated. A new 'suspended' field will indicate active students, while a cleanup process will remove non-returning students and their parent accounts from the system. Additionally, a query has been implemented to identify duplicate ID numbers before the import, further safeguarding data accuracy.
Special program indicator on conduct log and office referral forms
When a student enrolled in a special program (such as ESE/Special Ed, ELL, 504, or Gifted) is selected, a configurable warning message will now appear below the comment box on the conduct log form whenever a violation (excluding commendations) is recorded. This feature is designed to remind educators of the student's special status and the need for appropriate interventions. Similar to the conduct log, when a student in a special program is selected on the office referral form, a warning message will be displayed under the "reporter’s statement" box. This ensures that all relevant information is considered when documenting incidents involving these students. To enable this feature in the Radix Discipline Plugin, the special program indicator setting under Radix User must be activated.
Attendance alerts system
The latest enhancement to our Habitual Absence Alert introduces the ability to send notifications to both students and their parents, with three new customizable fields: options to enable alerts for students and parents (both defaulting to No), and a customizable notification body. In addition, periods and grade options have been added to the alert to allow admins to tailor the alerts to a specific grade level(s) or period(s) of the school. These notifications will detail critical attendance levels, specify affected courses, and include a link to the full attendance report, ensuring that all parties are well-informed.
On the other hand, the Incomplete Attendance Alert introduces the ability for admins to create alerts based on specific periods and grade levels using a multi-select combo box. Alerts will now notify teachers and administrators of any incomplete attendance for the selected periods and grades while excluding weekends and school holidays. Additionally, the alert system has been improved to accurately reflect the total number of attendance sessions based on the applied filters, ensuring that all previously created alerts are updated accordingly.
Attendance numbers on Radix Dashboard
We are thrilled to introduce an update to the Attendance Dashboard, offering administrators the ability to customize attendance codes and settings for more accurate reporting. The dashboard now allows for configurable attendance codes where admins can choose any attendance code to be shown on the parent/student dashboard. The titles of the attendance counts can be customized to the needs of the school.
